«The Pumpkin Seeds» is a spring leaf green tea which grows in the mists mountains in the Luan region (Anhui province). It has delightful taste, remarkable flavor and long history. The first time it is mentioned in the Ming Dynasty Chronicles (1368-1644). The heroes of Chinese classic novel “The Dream in the Red Mansions” (XVIII century) enjoy its soft taste and charming aroma. Since 1905 it had got the status of the favorite tea of Empress Qi Xi. The tea gets the name «The Pumpkin Seeds» due to its healing effects which are similar to the real pumpkin seeds properties. They are rich in fats, vitamins, zinc and used in traditional Chinese medicine for treatment digestion, biliary tract and genital dysfunctions.
“Ye Sheng” means “wild”. So this tea bush variety doesn’t grow at the tea plantations, it grows in the mountain forests, among other plants. It happens when the old tea garden had been left by the owner and after was found by the peasants.
The dry tea consists of medium size slightly twisted dark green leaves. The aroma of dry tea is tender, with grassy and roasted tints. The infusion color is clear with a light green tint.
The bouquet of brewed tea is light, original, with the tone of roasted chestnuts. The taste is soft, sweet, oily with a slightly sour taste. The aroma is delightfully tender with floral and smoky tints. The aftertaste is rich and refreshing.
Infuse this tea with chilled boiled water (80-85°С) in a porcelain gaiwan or in glass teaware. Take 3 grams for 100 ml volume. Shed tea with water and increase the infusion time from 2 seconds gradually. This tea can be infused this way for 6-7 times.
Wild growing “The Pumpkin Seeds” is delightful ceremonial tea for the light time of the year. It perfectly quenches thirst, refreshes perception and uplifts the spirit. The name of a countryside "Luan" means "Six Calms". It completes this wonderful tea with an additional positive dimension.
