Cornelian cherry (Córnus mas) is a shrub of the Dogwood family. Berries were harvested and prepared in Crimea in the autumn of 2015.
Cornel berries are very healthful; they contain glucose, fructose, organic acids (malic, nicotinic), tannins, essetial oil, phytoncides, vitamines C and P. The infusion is used as a general tonic as well as an anti-inflammatory and envigorating agent, to cure digestive disorders and metabolism disbalances.
Preparation: take 10 of dried berries, add 200 ml of water, bring to boil and simmer on a slow fire for 15 - 20 min, then cool down and sieve. Alternatively, an easier method: put the berries into a thermos, add boiling water and steep for 3 - 4 hours.
Use as a separate drink or in combination with other dried fruits and herbs, honey and lemon.
