Juniper berries (Fructus Juniperi), collected and prepared in Macedonia in autumn of 2015
It contains essential oil (da-pinene, cadinene, camphene, a-terpinene, a-phellandrene, dipentene, Sabine, terpineol, borneol, isoborneol, tsidrol), invert sugar, pigment yuniperin, fatty oil, organic acids (malic, formic , acetic acids), resin and resinous substances, ascorbic acid, tannins.
The brew of dried berries has diuretic agents, it thins the phlegm and facilitates expectoration in disorders of the respiratory tract , helps in rheumatism, flatulence, heartburn, cholepathia and liver disorders.
The fruits of juniper are contraindicated in nephritis and nephrosis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, acute gastritis and colitis.
Preparation: put 10 g of dried berries in a thermos, pour with 200 ml of boiling water and infuse for 1 hour. Take 2 tablespoons 4 times a day after meals.
To prepare a bath take 20 g of dry juniper berries, pour with 2 liters of boiling water and boil for 30 minutes. Put the brew to the bath and take for about 15-20 minutes.
