Wen Shan Bao Zhong from Pinglin "B"

Description

Pinglin is a beautiful area in the northeast of Taiwan. There are the water reservoir formed by the Danshui River, picturesque hills and numerous springs here. Wenshan is one of those hills. The reservoir is a drinking water supply for Taipei, the capital and the north of the island, so this area is a protected environmental zone. Despite the fact that the tea gardens are situated at the altitude of above no more than 400 m, the most famous local tea, Wen Shan Bao Zhong, has a mild taste and a bright floral fragrance.

Bao Zhong sounds as Pouсhong in English and has been known as since the XVII century. At that time the immigrants from Wuyishan brought tea bushes and tea production technology to Taiwan. The longitudinal rolling of the tea leaves is the reminiscence of this fact. The immigrants from Fujian specialized in the manufacture of export teas, scented with jasmine and other flowers. "Bao Zhong" means "wrapped",  i.e. the “clean” tea wrapped in paper. In the second half of the twentieth century the manufacturers have orientated to the local market of high-quality teas. So the Bao Zhong has started to be produced revealing the natural floral nuances of taste and flavor.

The dried tea is medium size twisted leaves of dark-green tones. The aroma of dried tea is strong, sweet, floral. The clear liquor is  green-yellow.

The bouquet of brewed tea is bright, round, herbal- floral with notes of peach, pumpkin seeds, dates and spices. The taste is soft, dense, oily, silky, sweet, with a subtle citrus acidity and spicy nuances. Delicate floral fragrance. Gorgeous, long lasting, juicy aftertaste.

Bao Zhong is brewed with hot boiled water of 95 ° C in the yixing teapot for light fermented oolongs or in gaiwan. Smell the cap of gaiwan during the tea time and enjoy the wonderful aroma. You can use Taiwanese ceremonial pair of tea cups: snifter cup is used to enjoy the smell and drinking cup is used to enjoy the taste. Take 6 gr per 100 ml of brewing vessel. The first infusion should be emptied and then make short infusions (just for a second), increasing the infusion time gradually.  The tea goes 12 infusions.

This is an original ceremonial oolong that has mild, buttery taste and light relaxing, harmonizing effect.

этого чая пришло пока всего 4 таких коробки. в ней 300 грамм. пока вроде целая есть.

ЗЫ. На мой взгляд очень круто сочетается со снегопадом ЗА окном в первой половине дня)
А еще я забыл порекомендовать, заваривать его поостуженной водой примерно до 80-90*С. Лучше для начала воду остудить, но настаивать чуть дольше привычного. На мой взгляд он от этого только выигрывает. Но это лично дело каждого конечного)

Плотный, свежий, обволакивающий и мягкий чаек!
Имеет сладкий, травянисто-цветочный букет с цитрусовой свежестью и сочностью свежескошенной травы.
Во вкусе и аромате этого чая можно разглядеть оттенки цветов лотоса, тыквенных семечек, лимонной свежести, сливочные и медово-цветочные тона (это уже скорее про аромат Бао Чжуна).

Этот улун имеет самую слабую ферментацию среди Тайваньских (и по моему среди всевозможных) улунов. По моим воспоминаниям Бао Чжуны имеют максимальную ферментацию то ли 12, то ли 15% что делает их очень близкими с зелеными чаями, при этом по плотности настоя и по густоте вкуса не возникает никаких сомнений что это улун.
Плантации этого чая находятся на высоте 600-700метров над уровнем океана, что делает этот чай отнюдь не высокогорным, однако чай выходит отличного качества.
Любителям зеленых чаев и светлых улунов однозначно понравится.
Лично я всегда воспринимал Бао Чжуны как хорошую альтернативу материковым зеленым чаям и всяким Цин Сян Те Гуаньиням. Хотя конечно же нельзя сравнивать такие разные и непохожие чаи.
В общем этот Бао Чжун вполне хорошего качества за соответствующую цену.
