This tea is an honorable type of strong fermented Wuyishan oolongs from the north of Fujian province. “Fo Shou” means the Buddha Palm. This type of tea tree has a special citrus aroma. Also the leaves mode is similar to the leaves of Citrus medica. This plant has special fruit which could look like human palm or mudra pulp. The Buddhist tradition pays attention to mudras, which considered to be the Buddha language. The Merciful and Radiant Buddha uses mudras to “speak” with processed world from its transcendental and divine silence.
The dry tea leaves are large, twisted and have vinous-brown color with violet tint. The gorgeous aroma of dry tea is rich, warm, spicy and tonic. The bright, clear liquor has fiery-amber tint.
The bouquet of brewed tea sounds with “Wuyishan melody”. It is pure, fiery with subtle citrus tones, plenty of original floral and berry tones, which transforms during the tea time. The aftertaste is sweet, rich, round and long lasting.
Fo Shou is brewed with hot boiled water (95-100°С) in yixing tea pot for strong fermented oolongs or in thick-walled gaiwan. Take 5-7 grams of tea for 120-150 ml volume vessel. The water should be hot, but not hotter then 100°С, the boiling method conceals high overtones and the “cliff melody”. According to oolong tradition shed tea with water and empty cups, then make 3-4 infusions for 5-10 seconds. Increase the infusion time gradually after the fifth infusion till no longer than one minute. Drink this tea hot!
