“Magic Orchid” is new sort of tea trees in Wuyishan. It has small tender leaves and floral bucket. The origin of this sort is neighbor Guangdong province and it started to be cultivated in Wuyishan natural resource in the beginning of 90-s XX century. First of all this tea trees was grown in Hui Yuan Monastery, which situated in the heart of Wuyishan, among Julongke (The House of Nine Dragons) and Shuilindu (Water Cover) waterfall. The monastery was built during Song Dynasty. After it was the monastery of Taoists, Buddhists and Confucianists. The second name of the monastery is “The Tree Doctrines”. The monks of any confession were growing tea trees. Tea time is essential part of the rituals, meditations and ceremonies, the same as altar figures and incense.The dry tea leaves are of medium size, twisted and have dark vinous color. The aroma is deep, warm, with corny and spicy tones. The infusion is clear with golden almond tint. The bucket of brewed tea is bright, fiery, with corny, spicy, floral, pine, honey and balm tones. The aroma is rich, strong, volume, smooth, sweet, with subtle resinous bitterness and berry sour taste. The aftertaste is rich and smooth.
Brew this tea with hot boiled water (95-100°С) in yixing tea pot for strong fermented oolongs or in thick-walled gaiwan. Take 6 grams of tea for 100 ml volume dish. According to oolong tradition shed tea with water and empty cups, then infuse tea for 5-10 seconds, and after fifth infusion increase infusion time gradually.
That excellent ceremonial oolong is very strong and smooth at the same time. It has perfect taste and heating, relaxing and meditative effect.
