The artist studied traditional Chinese painting in Beijing with master Li Zhe (gongbi style). Her works combine soft brush strokes and smooth color transitions, stretching of colors characteristic of traditional painting.
“The concept of my works is to combine the pictorial experience of the West and the East.
Watercolor is an elemental material; water rules the roost here. I don't use white to keep the painting light.
Harnessing the water element, making friends with it and preserving light in your paintings is one of the main points of the work.
This watercolor was born after a trip to China.
I was impressed by the old streets of Beijing - a union of stone, sunlight and tiles. Beneficial hieroglyphs above the door and patterns on wooden panels. Mythology and reality are woven together, creating a fairy tale in reality."
