“Purple Tips” are produced by “Wang Yuan” tea company (“Ma Dui Zhang” trademark). The raw material is spring tips of tea bushes from Menghai tea region harvested in 2011.
The dry cha bing, tea cake is 357 grams weight. It is medium dense and easily crushed into the medium size twisted leaves with brown stems and red buds. The aroma is rich, herbal with dried fruit tones. The clear liquor is olive yellow.
The bouquet of brewed tea is bright, rich, woody, fruity with herbal and floral tones. The aroma is strong, woody and fruity. The taste is strong, rich, full-bodied, sweetish, with nice astringency and light, fruity sour nuance which turns into the refreshing, lemon-mint aftertaste.
“Purple buds” are brewed with 95-100°С water in the yixing teapot for sheng puers or in the thick-walled ceramic gaiwan. Take 5-6 gr for 100ml volume vessel. Make quick infusions and gradually increase the infusion time. Brew this way 10 times.
It is nice budget tea for the everyday tea time. It has wild “mountain qi” or “mountain breathing” and notably changes the perception. It has bright taste and a nice potentiality to be stored for getting ripe puer.
